The Hcathcote Williams Shield match was concluded to-day, when the Auckland Grammar School won by 26 runs, and retain the trophy. The Boys' High School, Christchnrcli, required 229 to win, •uid scored 203 (Hickmott 111, Otley 21, W. Guiney 16). The shield was presented to the Grammar School by Mr. R. B. Lusk, who, in tho course of his speech, regretted that matches for the shield had been confined to Auckland and Canterbury teams only. THE CHBISTMAS MATCH. Tho first fairly big event of the cricketing year so far as Wellington is concerned, will bo tho representative match between Wellington and Hawko's Bay, Last year, playing In their town territory. Hawke's Bay inflicted defeat on Wellington. The match is to be played at tho Basin Reserve on Saturday, December 23, and on Monday (Christmas Day)
