The'general'coniplaiut among grain [ merchants is that (here is nothing doing in the trade, nor do they expect that there will' be any change for the better till after flu; Xew- Year. The crop prospects are now a matter of chief interest. There is apparently going to he an exceptionally good cereal crop, and the harvest will ho late. The returns should bo above the average,, and the grain should be -.roll filled. Tine weather is now required to bring tbe grain to maturity. Hailstorms have done more damage, but those have fortunately - not Covered a wide area. Usually, early barley and pats aro cut about Christmas (hue,' hut. it does not, appear as if there was anything ripe yet on the light land on the "plains. Oats are only beginning to change colour, and the wet. and- cold weather .of the.past few days will further delay the ripening process. .
LIVE STOCK SALES. Messrs. Dalecty and Co., Ltd., report on their Oiaki sale, held yesterday, as follow:—We. had a full yarding of cattle, arid "a'medium oiie of sheep, which sold well up to late rates.
