Funds in hand, with the Government subsidy, amount to .£215, and, as the contract price is JS2B7, efforts will be made after the. New Year to raise the balance required. A lad named Savage, while riding a bicycle near tho railway station on Monday afternoon, collided with a dog, and was thrown violently to tho ground," being rendered unconscious. He is now progressing satisfactorily. Tho new Town Hall to be built in M.irtinborougb is to bo of brick or ferroconcrete,, and. will accommodate 500 people. Competitive designs are to be invited for the plans. Tho South Wairnrapa Cricket Clnb. which had a good activo membership last year, has only played one game this season owing to lack of players, several prominent members having left the district. ■ .
