HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The final meeting for this year of the. Hutt Borough Council was held last evening, and was attended bv the Mayor , (Mr. K. P. Bunny) and " Councillors Knight, Hodgins, Hawthorn, Kempthorne, Cloudon, Roots, Stevenson, Ball, aud Hobbs. It ..was resolved to take action for the recovery of a percentage of the takings in regard to the. local recreation ground. It was pointed out by the clerk that, contrary to agreement, no senior matches had been nlayed on the ground last season. The Hutt Valley Tramway Board, replying to a communication from the council, stated that as scon as the rates due were recovered the board would meet and thr-ir affairs would be wound up. The letter further pointed out that at present no liabilities wero being incurred. The proprietor of the King George .Pictures was srrajited leave to show a Christmas Day programme, subject to the sanio being approved. Tha clerk was instructed ti write to Mr. Priest in reference to drainage, stating ihfit if a reply was not forthcoming proceedings would be taken. Keporiin" on section 2 of the eastern drainag.'. the engineer stated that in certain portions the ground wa* very bard to penetrate. Logs were lying across (he roads, while the class of ground was very hard. The weather recently also had been unfavourable, this being iustanced bv the fact that out of fourteen weeks eleven weeks had been marked by broken time. Financially it meant th'afc they wera ,6111 behind. Councillor Knight was granted a month's leave of absence.
