THE DEN OF AIRLIE. From New York, via Australian ports, the A. and A. Line's chartered 6teamer Den of Airlia arrived at Auckland at 5 p.m. yesterday. The vessel is due at Wellington about Decembcv 23. SHIPMENT OF JARRAH. Word has been received in Wellington stating that the Scales chartered steamer Clan Maclaren, which is to take tho wool and general carpro berth at New Zealand ports next, month, is to visit Biinbury to lift a cargo of jarrah. Tho vessel is now en route to the Dominion. She left Durban on December 1. APAEIMA'S EASTERN CARGO. Now en route from Calcuttn to Auckland and other Now Zenland porti tho Union steamer Aparima is bringing 7650 tons of Eastern merchandise, IKO tons of which will be discharged at Auckland, and the balance at Wellington, Lyltelton, and Dunedin. She will lift further cargo at Singapore and Samnrani; en route, and is due here about January 3. THE WELL-KNOWN GOTHIC. On December 14, the Gothic, nt one time a favourite Koyal Hail steamer sailing under the .Show, Savill, and Albion Company's flag, and well known in Wellington, left Sydney for London, via Suez. Sho camo out to Melbourne and Sydney with KJO immigrants recently. P. AND O. SEETICE. The P. and O. eteamor Mooltan, which will be the second steamer of the line to visit Anckland this season, is schedule! , , to leave Sydney this afternoon for the northern port. She arrives at Auckland on Friday morning, and is timed to sail at 4 p.m. on the same day for London. She proceeds Homo via Australian and Mediterranean ports KUMAPA FEOM MONTEEAL. An arrival in port yesterday afternoon from Montreal, via way ports, was the Now Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Kumara. While the vessel was at Cape Town Mr. Davidson, the chief officer, had tho misfortune to lose threo of his fingers through a rope fouling. Consequently ho had to go ashore at the South African port. Captain Lewis, late chief officer of the Kia Ora, ia in command of the Kumara. and ha 3 tho following officers associated with him:-Chief. Mr. Fisher; second, Mr. Langbein: third, / Mr. Townsend. Mr. Brewer is chief engineer. Mr. Norris second, Mr. Miller third, Mr. Holthouse fourth, and Mr. M'Kinnon fifth. Mr. Reid is chief refrigerating engineer, and .Mr. Crawford second. After completing discharge here the Kumara will proceed to Lyttelton and Dunedin. It is expected that the Maoriland Steamship Company's Lau.derda.le will leave Newcastle for Auckland, Gisborne, and Napier to-day. Timbor-laden, the Ennordale left Huon, Tasmania, on Wednesday for Lyttelton. Neit month the Island steamer Atua. will be withdrawn for survey and overhaul at Auckland. Tho Tofua will undergo her survey in February. Advices received from Adelaide state that Captain P. Weir, who was commissioned by Messrs. Elder. Smith, aud CoLimited (representing Lloyd's), to report on the possibility of salvaging cargo of the wrecked Norwegian barque Margit on the Coorang Beach, returned to Port Adelaide recently. He was- accompanied on the trip.by Captain T. Creer, manager of tho Adelaide Steam Tug Company. They found it impossible to get close enough to the wreck to make a, proper survey. Tho' vessel was apparently sunk in the quicksands, and tho surf is flowing over her bulwarks. Tho chances of salvaging any of the cargo or ehip's fittings are regarded as remote. Rakanoa, Union cool tramp, is to leave Newcastle for Nev; Zealand ports about Thursday neit. The new coastal steamer Opouri. now on her way from Glasgow to Lyttelton, left Port Said on December o for Hobart direct. The vessel, which has been specially built for Messrs. Reese Bros., of Christchurch, is to load hardwood at Hobart for Lyttelton. The Union s.s. Koromiko (Captain Prewette) left Westport at 6 o'clock on Friday morning for Melbourno and Fremantlo- with Admiralty coal: ■ The vessel may return with a cargo of timber from Bunbury, and is duo in New Zealand waters towards tho end of January.
