Terms have now been arranged for the acquisition of nil interests in the property needed for the Mall to Charing Cross improvement by the Loudon County Council. The Improvement Committee are advised that tho gross cost of the improvement should not cxcccd «C7O,. r ioo. Two men.' George Groves, thirty-three, and Samuel .Berry, thirty-live, were suffocated by fumes at .some ammonia works at East Greenwich on October 25. Berry, while levelling coke' at tho base of a tower, was overcome, and Groves was lowered from tho top by a rope. He secured licrry, and both men were being hauled up when Groves also was overcome, and with Berry fell to the bottom. Tho men could not be got out for somo Brno, and Then reached both, were dead.
