Mr. Holman, replying in the Legislative Assembly last night to Mr. Wade's motion censuring the Government for its arrangement with the Speaker, Mr. Willis, said Mr. Wade's grievance should have been directed against tho electors rather than the Government. While the Government had only a fictitious majtrity it would not attempt contentious legislation. Later, however, it had regained its original majority. The agreement with. Mr. Willis had lasted only while. : th'e Government was without a legitimate majority. Tho basis of tho whole arrangement-was the even numbers of tho parties in the House. After Mr. Storey had spoken, the debate ended with tho application of the closure. The motion was defeated by 42 votes to 32. EJECTED MEMBER'S RETURN. Sydney, December 12. Mr. W. H. Wood, member for Bega, and an ex-Liberal Minister, who was suspended a few weeks ago, and, on December 1 was ejected from the Chamber, yesterday intimated that he desired to return. The Speaker (Mr. Willis) said ho was unable to grant the request until the censure debate was concluded. After tho debate, Mr. Willis slated his willingness to see Mr. Wood, but the latter was not then about the House. REVISED STAMP DUTIES. Sydney, December 12. In the Legislative Assembly, the Treasurer (Mr. Dacey) introduced tho iStamp Duties Bill. It imposes charges on agreements, statements of share capital, contract notes, conveyances, drafts, letters of power of attorney, liens on wool, mortgages, bonds, debentures, covenants, or any securities, passage tickets for sea voyages, insurance policies, settlements, deeds of gift, etc. The Government anticipates (he revenue from these sources at .2100,000 a year.
