THE AMERICAN IIAEKET. Writing under dato December G, Mr. J. 14. Scott, secretary of the South Island Dairy Association, remarks that the Vancouver and 'Frisco trade in butter is growing fast, and will he of greater importance to New Zealand butter factories in the future; so much so that it.is worth the consideration of butter factories now whether iu the future they should put all their eggs in one basket by tying themsclvcs up to sell or consign the whole ot their , season's output to London/ Probably it would be well to reserve a part of these outputs for Vancouver, San Francisco, or South African buyers. The following figures show how rapidly the Vnncouvcr-'Krisco trade in butter is developing, ani much moro might have gone ... if it had been available. Australian butter goes in largo lines to f.ll these markets, but. New Zealand .is preferred. Both San Francisco and Vancouver have behind them a vast population of very well-to-do consumers, who like the best of everything and aro able and willing (o pay for it. Wo may probably he sending cheese also to " these markets ere ninny years, but not just yet. The shipments of butter to San Francisco and Vancouver from New Zealand have lynn :—October, 821 boxes; November, GO'S boxes; and over 7000 boxes are already booked for the December steamers with buyers unsatisfied.
