SWIMMING.

THE WELLINGTON CENTRE. A meeting of tho Wellington Centre of the N.Z.A.S.A. was held at the Y.M.C.A. Inst evening, Mr. J. F. Atkins presiding. Tho following carnival dates were allotted to the clubs:--Wellington Centre, January 20; Wairarapa, January 22; Worsor Bay, January 22; Thorndoii, February 3; Old Boys, February 17; Victoria College, March 2; Swifts, March IG. Applications were received from the Mastcrton Ladies and (he Carteitou Amateur Swimming' Clubs for affiliation to the Wellington Centre. The centre was unable to grant the. applications, as the clubs omitted to send copies of their rules. 1 Mr. F. Wilton pave notice of motion at tho last meeting of the centre to tho following effect:—"That Rule 2 ul the N.Z.A.S.A. rules be amended to reacts 'The centre committee shall -be elected at the annur.l meeting of the centre, and shall consist of seven members, in. addition to the chairman, a?cretary, and treasurer. . A general meeting of delegates may bo called at any time on roeeipt, by the secretary, of a requisition signed by five delegates.'" Mr. Wilton also moved that tho following words bo added to Rule 3, after the werd "centre":—"Each club shall elect two representatives to attend tho annual meetings which may be called." Both motions were carried unanimously, Mr. T. Bain was appointed a delegate to tho New' Zealand Association. l In connection with the recent. swimming disaster at Lyall Bay, tho centre decided to send a letter of condolence to the parents of tho lato Mr. I)obson. It was also decided to place on record tho service rendered by Mr. E. Levy,' in endeavouring to savo life under such trying circumstances. In regard to the allocation of carnival dates, the following clubs wore granted championships:—Old Boys, Walker aud Hall Ctin; Tlwrndon, J4O yards cham. pioiiship; Wairarapa, 100 yards championship.
