The artist, Lindaue,, has always boen noted for the character and beauty of his studies of the picturesque Maori race, and this work-is the crowning effort of his brilliant and versatile genius. A copy of this picture was in tile collection of the lato Sir Walter Buller, and realised a very high price when sold in London. "THE VALLEY OF THE NISTUEN, NORWAY," And "FISHING BOATS LEAVING WHITBY," are two examples of Mr. J. M. Mndden's well-known artistic woik. The subjects in both casts are treated with the confidence and brilliancy of a master. Either picture would be a valuable addition to any gallery.
