Mr. Justice Ridley, at Birmingham, a burglar named Thomas I leld hurled a stool at tho judge's des.t. The desk was emashed, Mr. Justice Eidloy was wounded in the fiio;, and his spectacles and wig knocked off. It is allegnd that tho prisoner had intended to stiike a witness whom he further threatened. No was sentenced to undergo five years' imprisonment, in addition to completing an imo.tpired term of fifteen months to which ho had been previously sentenced.
