FATALITY AT LYALL BAY.

YOUNG MAN DROWNED.

A drowning accident occurred at Lyall Bay beach yesterday just beforo noon. The victim was Robert Dobson, a single mill of twenty-two jxsirs, who resided with his parents "(Xlr. and Mrs. William Dobson) at 52 Daniel Street.

Dobson left home yesterday morning to spend (lie day on Lyall Bay beach. He anil Edward Levy went into tlio sea to bnlhc at about a quarter to twelve. Levy was instructing Dobson in wine swimming strokes, and had only left him ft few minutes when Dobson called out. Jjovy went to Dobson's assistance, and tried to get him ashore, but found that the tide was carrying them out. After a struggle Levy lost his hold of his companion, ind Dobson went down. Levy then had some difficulty to get ashore. The body was recovered about two hours later. There were a good many bather.' on the beach and in the water at the time of the accident. It is said that Dobpjin could not swim, and that the reason why Levy left him at all was lo go to a boy who' was calling for help because he hnd been taken with cramp. The general impression among those who saw Levy and Dobson struggling was that there was a Httlo fun going on. Otherwise, n number would have- rendered assistance.
