HEMP AND TOW.
DECEEASED GRADING RETURNS. The total number of bales of hemp graded at the various ports of tho Dominion daring November was 86GG, as compared with 11,986 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 3320 bales. For the twelve months ending November 30' tho number of bales graded was 93,486, as compared with 131,878 for the previous twelve months, a decrease of 38,393 bales.
Of last' month's total, 9 bales were graded superior, 2G3 fine, 3870 good fair, 4052 fair, 10G common, and 30 rejected. The Wellington and Foxton grading wns as under, the Foxton figures being given in parentheses:—Superior, 0 (9); fine, 40 (74); good fair, 2000 (1824); fair , 1580 (1878); common. 29 (57); rejected, 18 (18). Total3-Wellington, 3697; Foxton, 38G0.
During the # month 2228 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 39GG for the corresponding month of last vear, a decrease'of 1738 bales. In all 847 bales were given first grade. 1138 second grade, IG4 third grade, and 79 wero condemned.
