'file London City Lands Committee were instructed at a recent meeting of the Corporation to find out what steps should he taken to acquire old Temple Bar. which stands in Theobald's Park, for the city. It was a«ked whether, consequent on the death of Lady Mcux, any steps were going to bo taken for its acquisition. Mr. Kev. the chairman of the City Lands Committee, said that ho understood that Lady Ileus's will provided that, in the oveiit of any attempt being made to sell Temple Bar, the city should have the first refusal, but no offer had yet been made. The Highways Committee of the London County Council suggest the obtaining Of Parliamentary powers enabling them to insist on the queue system being adopted at any of tho recognised stopping-places or termini for tramway cars. At prosent no such powers exist
