NEARLY COINED LAST YEAR. Last year was a busy one at the English Mint, and tho total of coins. issued constituted a record. Tho figures were;— 1910. 1909. JZ £ Gold 25,300,000 13,800,000 Silver 2,520,591 1,389,599. Bronzo 151,452 121.511 T tals 27,972,013 15,311,410 The total number of pieces last year was 152,801,811, an increase of nearly forty millions on 1909. From 1887 to 1890 double florins were mndo to tho value of .£533,125; of these, .£358,406 havo been withdrawn and melted. Thero is a great profit on silver coins, despito tho losses on thoso withdrawn. Tho gross profit last year was .£1,552.G32 ■4s. 7d. ( or 105.49 per cent.; and even after deducting tho losses on tho coins withdrawn, and melted tho profit was 10111 per cent. Visitors to tho Mint last year numbered BSoB. , I'urthcr attention is drawn to the startling increaso" in tho number of persons charged with coining; there was an increaso of 01 convictions.
