The Friendly Societies have petitioned the House of Lords to amend tho Insurance Bill to enable them to pay sickness benefit tho first day of illness, instead of the fourth. The British Constitution Association urges tho House of Lords to reject or submit tho BUI to a poU of tho people. REJECTED BY REFEEENDTJM. London, December 7. Mossrs. E. A. Cooper and J. Gretton, Unionist M.P.'s for Walsall and Rutlandshire respectively, took a referendum of their constituents on the Insurance Bill. In both cases tho Bill was rejected. COMPENSATION FOE DOCTOES. London, December 7. The doctors have subscribed .£150,000 to compensate tho doctors for losses through adhering to tho policy of "the Medical Association in connection with the Insurance Bill. i
