San Lass was badly injured whilst galloping at Awapuni yesterday morning, and it is feared that sho will never race again. This is bad luck for her owner as the mare was fast getting into form, and gave promise of being an early winner. On the same course Monologue, when jumping off to run five furlongs, came down, and his rider, T. Todd, had his skull opened. His injuries aro nol considered serious.

In the- Maiden Plato at Woodville today, A. Oliver will ride tho New Ply-mouth-owned Royal Arms, R. Hatch will b) on Mira, B. Decley on Ladino, and C. Jenkins on Easy. The last-named will represent Mr. E. J. Watf s stable.

Ashby, the once-speedy Obligado gelding, gave proof that he is fast regaining his old form, for he cut out three furlongs nicely on tho grass at Ellerslio on Tuesday in 373-ssec.

According to "The Thoroughbred Record' a report which was current that Rock Sand's owner, Mr. A. Belmont, intended shipping his famous stallion to i ranee was without foundation. When at his.Nursery Stud, near Lexington, recently, Mr. Belmont stated that Rock Sand should stay there for at least another year. In Bclray, by Hastings out of Beldam© the chairman of tho New York Jockey Club owns a yearling colt of considerable promise.
