SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.
A "Handkerchief Tea." A very enjoyable, "handkerchief tea" wus given on Wednesday afternoon at the Hutt by Mrs. Cuff, the guest of honour being Miss Allport, whoso marriage takes place shortly. The various rooms were arranged with some very lovely flowers, and tea was served both insido and also upon..the verandah. Jlusic, including some delightful singing, entertained tho many guests. Mrs. Cuff woro a black silk frock relieved with cream lace; -Miss Cuff was in a floral dress with touches of brown; Mrs. Allport was in an amethyst frock and hat to match; and Miss Allport woro a white frock and pretty hat with flowers. Mrs. M. Bethel], who has been stayin" at Kraucepeth, left for Christchurch on Wednesday evening. Miss Coates has gone on a visit to Auckland and Rotorua. Mrs. H. Rose and her sister, Miss Greenfield, returned to Wellington on Wednesday from a visit to England.
