$ — SIE JENKIN COLES.. By TelcrraDh—l'rcßF CoDyrinh! Adelaide, Deoomber 7. The death has taken phice of Sir Jenkin Colts, ox-Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. He occupied the clmir for twenty-one sessions, and never missed a sitting. This is a world's record. Sir .Tonkin Coles was "born in Sydney in 1812, and educated at the Blue Coat School, London. In '185(1 ho arrived in South Australia, and in 1875 entered Parliament. He was Commissioner of Crown Lauds in tho Col ton Ministry .(1881-5) and Commissioner of Public Works in the sumo Government; also Commissioner of Crown Lands in the Playford Ministry (1887-9). Jl'e was a director of the Bank of Adelaide, a director and local chairman of the Citizens' Life Assuraneo Company, and a considerable landholder in various parts of the state. His resignation of the Speakership owing to illhealth was announced about a fortnight ago. •
