THORNDON CLUB. ■ Though not favoured by tho best of weather the Thonidon Swimming Club ojiencd its season with a 50yds. handicap last evening, 31 members taking part. Some of tlio new competitors ' shojved marked sprinting ability, whilst ibe champion (C. lirice) and ex-champion (1?. Holiaync) maintained their reputation. Tlio raco was won by T. J. King (ssee.), H. Lo Cren (llsec.), -; T. H. Maclean (6scc.), S. Time, 33 4-Jisec. I!. Healy, who lma the misfortune to sprain his anklo whilst playing tennis, was unable to compete, but* mado an efficient starter. J. Nelson (captain) and A. Munro acted as judges.
