Two thousand carters at Liverpool have given notice of a strike on December 9 unless their revised demands are fully conceded. DOCKERS RESUME WORK. (Rec. December 4, 10.15 p.m.) London, December 4. Messrs. Houlder Bros.' steamer Valhalla, which arrived at Swansea on December 1 with men aboard for loading purposes, and which resulted' in 4000 dockers going on strike, has sinco left Swansea, aud the dockers have resumed work. SYDNEY WHARF LABOURERS. (Rec. December 5, 1.15 a.m.) Sydnsy, Decembor 4. The special board which has been constituted to deal with the wharf labourers' dispute, has commenced its sittings. Counsel for tho Interstate steamship owners contended that tho existing conditions were not being observed by the men, and there were no claims before the board in a legal way. Ho announced that he ir.tendod to fijht the matter step by step. 'Judge Seholes, president of tho board, overruled the objections, and said that he intended to sit until tho work was done, and proceeded to a consideration of tho claims.
