At Mr. Mnssey's meeting at ltemuera on Friday, the' chairman (Mr. Arch. Clark) sni'd that he thought the meeting should express its appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. F. A little over a week ago, a. large company of Natives escorted the invalid to Waingaroa Springs, with the hope that the waters there would bo of benefit to him. He was brought, back to Waahi 011 Wednesday, and passed away the following day. A large tails i is being held and preparations are being mado for a large number of mourners who are expected to arrive from all parts, over lfltl telegrams having been sent to tho different chiefs and hapus informing them of the death of the well-known chief. Mr. Krnost Parke?, late of Wellington, and now of Auckland, has been eu(.'i«"ed to sing tho baritone music in "The Messiah" at the festival in connection with the npeninir of tho new Town llall in Auckland. Tho honour is a considerable one. as all the other artists for the performance are being iinnorted from Australia. Private advices from Mellwurne slate that Mr. Andrew Campbell, manager of the Xational tnsuranco Comnan.v in tliat city, and formerly of Wellington, may visit New Zealaud next month during the Northern Bowling Association's tournament. Mr. Camnbell was formerly a well-known member of tho Wellington Bowling Club.
