(Specially written for Tub Oouiniok.) TUESDAY. Stowed steak arid" iviilnuts. Potatoes. Cabbage. Date pudding. DATE PUDDING. Five ounces dates, oozs. castor sugar,, long. breadcrumbs, 2\oz3. butter, 1 egg, one-third gill of niilu, 4 teaspoonlul vanilla essence, sauce; stono tho dates, cut tliein in small picces, mn thorn with the breadcrumbs, cream the butter and sugar together until they are white, add the egg, and boat it 'well in. Stir in lightly tho breadcrumbs, dates, milk, and vanilla essence, and put the mixture into a greased pudding basin. Cover with greased paper, and steam for 1J hours. Turn out and servo with sauce. FOR TO-MORROW. Neck of 'mutton. Parsley. Carrots. Turnips. Puff paste, hali-pint strawberries. SOCIAL AND PERSONAL, Miss Ballantyne, of Christchurch, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Sue is staying ssith Airs. F. W. i'nillips, of Kelburne. Miss M'Calluni, from Dunedin, is on a visit lo her sister, Mrs. J. D, Sicvwright, tho. Terrace, Wellington. Mrs. W. Jncks'on, Masterton, is spending a fnw days in town, and is staying with Jlrs. Grundy. Mrs. MacDoriald (Feathcrston) and her daughter are paying a brief visit to Woliington. Mr. and Mrs. 11. W. Williams (Khandallah) aro staying at Day's iiay House. ■ Mrs. Cockburn Hood, who has been staying for a lew days with Mrs. Miles, returned to Masterton ou Saturday. Miss Woltcrs returned to Carterton on Saturday from a brief visit to town. The death of Mrs, ['. D. Hoklsworth, wife of the Chief Postmaster 111 Auckland, took placo iast Wednesday at Eemuera.
