Yesterday morning a Chinese named Wong llong appeared in the Magistrate's Court and pleaded guilty to a charge of having sold cigarettes to a boy who was under 15 years of ago. Sub-Inspector Sheehan said that a youngster of nine years on his way home from school went into Wong Hong's shop and invested a penny, purchasing two cigarettes. Ho catuo home sick and confessed to his mother. Then Wong Hong received a visit from tho mother and admitted that he had sold the cigarettes to the boy. The ■ Chinese next received a call from a policeman. This time he denied that he had given tho youngster the cigarettes. 'When the admission was made in Court and the circumstances told the magistrate imposed a fine of £1, with costs 145.PRINTERS' RESPONSIBILITIES. Robert Hogg was fined £a for having kept an unregistered printing press. j Pierce Charles Frcetli was fined £b for omitting to print his name and place of abode on an election notice. DRINK CASES. Charles Alfred Clarko was found guilty of having procured liquor while prohibited, and an order was mado for his commitment to the Roto lioa Inebriates' Institute. Defendant had been out on probation. William Steuhouso was prohibited. CHARGES OF THEFT. On a charge of having ftolen a bicycle worth £), belonging 10 Lernani i> ,i----liains, John Byrne was convicted and ordered to appear for senteneo when called upon. Henry Janles Wren was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for having stolen trousers and boots belonging to Alexander' Diradore, and valued at .£2 9s. Gd. A young man was convicted and ordered to appear for sentence when called upon. The-charge was one of having omitted to account for certain money. FAMILY AFFAIRS. . Charles Mercer was ordered to pav I,'s. Gd. per week towards the support of ois wife. .Gcrtrudo Allen was granted a sepintion from William Louis Allen. The defendant was ordered. to pay 30s. per week to his wife. An order for.the payment of Is. 6d. per week towards the support of his father was made against Andrew Alison Craig. OTHER CASES. William Ryan was fined dSI for having used certain language. Frank Jones, alias Sidney Smithers, and James Condon, alias Campbell," ivere each sentenced to three months' imprisonment for being idle and disorderly. For his having obstructed Constable Rnwle while tho latter was executing his duty, Henry Holland was fined ,£3. TWO LITTLE GIVtLS. Two little girls, one aged eleven, and the other ten, were before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., yesterday on a charge of having stolen about 80 yards of ribbon and two handkerchiefs, valued at ,£1 16;. 2d., belonging to Ritchie and Parsonage. The children confessed the charge. They were discharged with a cautiou, their parents nadertaldiig to pay for the goods. {
