Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., addressed i number'of electors in the schoolhousc on Saturday night, but, owing to'a counterattraction, the attendance was not large. Mr. \V. Tompsitt occupied tho chair, and briefly introduced the candidate, who'gave an address, touching on the load question and other important issues of tho day. At tlie conclusion ho was given a hearty vote of thanks and confidence. Messrs. Wright and Barber both advertised Wilson Street at 8 p.m. On Saturday as the spot where tho electors could hear their views. Both candidates were present at the time Appointed, but Mr. Barber having taken the precaution to obtain a permit beforehand from the Guy Council, lie was Hie candidate legally entitled to the stand. Mr. Wright accordingly spoke from the corner of Emmett and liiddiford Streets. Mr.' J. P. Luke intimates that all committees in connection with his candidature aro disbanded. He also inviit-s friends having vehicles lo assist by lending same to convey aged and sick voters to the polling booths on election day. Klsewhere in this issue Mr. John P. Luke (Independent Liberal candidate for Wellington Suburbs) definitely announces his political platform. This deals with such matters as education, afforestation, national endowments, taxation, developing, tariff, hydro-electric scheme, conciliation and arbitration, borrowing, consolidation and maintaining, local government and town planning, defence, and licensing legislation.
