Won bv half a length. Time, lmin. 31 3-ssco.' Floater fell and broke a leg. Tho jockey (C. Pnoc) was slightly injured. NOTES ON THE RACING, (By Tolcsrraph.—Special Correspondent.! Fcilding, November 30. The meeting concluded in weather similar to that experienced yesterday. Fields were large, and backers fared far from well. The stewards met after (he Hack Hurdles, to inquire into the running of Woiputere. The explanation tendered was satisfactory. In tho concluding event Floater—the favourite—fell, and broke his leg. Lord Soult began smartest in The York Stakes field, but bo is not tho horse of old, and the speedy Sea Eagle soon collared him, She was in front to tho turn, hut Khamsin then ran through on the inner side. Ho thou quickly placed tho issue beyond doubt, but thero was a good race for socond place between Patriotic and True Shot. Tho winner is owned by tho AVellington sportsman, Mr. Lnnoe AVood, having been purchased by him nearly twelve months ago. This is his first win in his now owner's colours. Though the .winner paid a good price, the public was near the mark in its summing up of tho chances in ■ the Nikau Handicap. The whole of the acceptors went to the post. Taft was quickest into his stride, and, with Ovation and Recipe, moved up. In an interesting' finish, the latter won by a length, with Ovatiou fourth. C. Emerson rode a nico race on tho winner, who got auvthing but n good run. A big field went out for tho big handicap, Bliss being the best backed. She set a'warm pace, and was not collared till the home turn was negotiated. Hero Mendip, who had been kept in the rear, took charge, and won by a good length. Goldfiilder was much better to-dav, and was only cut out of third place 'in the last stride. Coroniandel rau r-roniimnrty throughout, but the weight brought him back at the finish. Effort, broke a blood-vessel, and was pulled up. Backers got a severe set-buck in the Oen Hurdles when a warm favourite (Euroco) failed btullv. The AA'angamii gelding ran out to the front, but. Tyrannic kept him nt it the whole way. 'H:.lf a mile from homo ho was beiiton, and eventually fell heavily at the last fence. Koran won nicely from Longner, with Tyrannic, third, and Highdeii fourth. To Ru fell at the Inst fence. None of tho rulers were injured. In the ITack'Hurdles tho machine showed that very many people were prepared for a big improvement in the form of Avaiputere, and their expectations were realised, for the mare not only woo, but had a good deal in hand. AVaiouru and Puketotara mado play for six furlongs, when Cullinan, who had been sold ove'rnißht and i.s now the property of Mr. J. Hennah, went out in the lead. He was soon displaced by Waimitere, who en me on by herself, and won by several lengths. Silvia and Nescot had a good set-to for second place. .lackman was fourth and StTathmoira fifth. Brown Trout had a very easy win in the Hack Welter. It was" a good sfart, und the field went past I he stand in a bunch. Retreat and Brown Trout were prominent at the six furlongs post, with San Pluie at. the head of tho others. Retreat fell back on tho bend, and San Pluie mado a forward move, but could not extend Brown Trout, who camo on full of running, and won comfortably. Ridden right nut, Awha just beat Stevens for second place. Kingswell started at n short price in the Scurry, but ho was never near the leaders, and finished a long way back. Indra and Lady Ruby led at the start, but, in Iho straielif, Xgnkiiii and Lady Laddo put in claims, and, finishing strongly, Laddo won by a couple oi lengths. The winner moved most, attractively iu her preliminary, and gained many admirers in consequence. Some heavy speculation took place in the. Railway AYelter event. Floater closed up favourite, with Rill and Arioui next
in demand. Bill left tbo mark first, birl was steadied, and Muster Sylvia led at a solid pace. Across the bottom, Thetis ran up to 'him and threatened danger, hut Master Sylvia drew away as tho straight was entered. Bill th*n camo with a nice run, and, catching tho leader, won liy a neck. Tho little-fancied Scatondalo was third.
