Chemists aud Red Cross the former made 102 in their first .innings (M'Konzie 34, Evertou H, and Fear 14). First innings of Red Cross yielded 73, and Chemists have lost seven wickcti for 70 in their second venture. HOLIDAY MATCHES. A match was played at Day's Bay yesterday, between teams representing the Union Bank and the Bank of New Zealand. No big scores were made, tho wicket being very slow and bumpy. The Bank of New Zealand won on the first innings by 17 runs. For tho winners, Morris took four wickets for 23 runs.' and De Latour two for 11. For the Union Bank, Gullett took seven for 28, aud Rowo three wickets for 11 runs. An enjoyable (lay was spent. Rain interrupted th« gam© when a rather exciting uuish was in view. At a friendly game played at Kelburno Park on Thursday a team representing; Wellington North defeated a Victon;i College eleven. Collego made 94 runs (Reed 31, Stiller 18, Dixou 17, Griffiths 16). Berry took six wickcls for 24 runs, and Eton two for no runs. Wellington North scored 121 runs without tho loss of a wicket, Phillips compiling a nice 50 (retired), and Williamson 49 (retired). Tho game was brought to a close by die rain, Phillips and Williamson being not out. EAST AND CITY COUNCIL. . A cricket match was played at Kelburno Park yesterday between a. team representing the City Council and 0. 'scratch team composed of members of the Wellington East Club. Batting first, East made 75. The feature of the innings and of the game was a rapid scoring performance by Hickson, who knocked up 19 runs.' Solid driving was his mainstay, aud ho made ten fours in rapid succession. The Council team, in its first innings, made 133. O'Shea, who mado 22 and retired, was top scorer. In a second innings East mado 82 (Horttbv. not out, 44).
CYCLING.
COMPLIMENTARY SMOKE CONCERT. A complimentary smoke concert was tendered to Dr. A. W. Izard at the Wellington Cycling Club Rooms last evening, and also to Mr. W. J. Young, treasurer of the club, on tho ocepjion of his approaching marriage. Mr. J. P. Murphywas in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. Tho toast of "Tho King" was proposed by the chairman, and the toast of "Our Guest" was proposed by Mr. J. Doyle. Altogether, a. very pleasant ovening was spent, songs, story, and recitation helping to while away the time. Songs were contributed by Messrs. C. Reid, T. Donaldson, H. J. Mayer, F. Morrison, s! Tingey,- W. J. Young, G. Evans, and a recitation by Mr. C. Smith.

SWIMMING,
THE WORSER BAY CLUB. The ladies' branch of the Worser Bay Swimming Club held its first meeting on Tuesday evening, Mr. D. K. Blair presiding. The following committee was ekcted:— .Mrs. Blair, Miss lurcher (Karaka Bay), Mesdamos Rountree, Clelaud (Miramar), Bradley, and Henderson (Worser Bay). The foundations are now being prepared for the new shed, which will be ready early in January. The shed is to be built at the north end of Worser Bay beach, and will be 40ft. x 25ft., exclusive of committee room, fresh watershower, etc. It is to have a ceiling 15ft. from the floor, which is to be •strengthened for gymnastic work. The shed floor will bo Bft. off the ground in front, and the space underneath is to be utilised for storing boats. The foundation-stone is to bo laid on Saturday, December 16. The male members have been working in the evenings by the aid of torches at clearing the site.
LAWN TENNIS.
At a meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, held on Wednesday evening, Mr. Win. Goss, president of the Christchurch Association, was elected president of the New Zealand Association, and vice-president of the Australasian Association for the ensuing year. It was resolved that a cablegram bo dispatched to tho Australasian Association, asking for further information as to the possibility of a team of ladies coming to New Zealand from Australia to play a match in Wellington either before or afler tho Davis Cup fixture. The -secretary (Mr. A. J. Petherick,) reported that arrangements were well 'in band in connection with (ho New Zealand championships, to be held at Christchurch on December 23, 26, 27, and 28; that on his recent- visit to Christchurch he found tho grounds wero in fairly good condition, and that everything would be ready in good time.
CUTTER RACE.
The annual cutter race for tho White Horse trophy between members of tho Wellington and Petono ex-Navals will be rowed at Petone next Saturday afternoon at 3.30.

DOINGS OF THE PETONE CLUB. To-morrow afternoon the annual cutter race between crews from the Petone and Wellington ex-Naval Associations for the White Horse. Whisky trophy will be row-, ed. The present members of the association will also row for u silver cup donated by Mr. R. Mothcs, Tetone. To makß up the afternoon programmo the Petono Eowiug Club will send out crews for a number of sprint events.
