A STEAMER STRANDED.
DURBAR DRESSES ABOARD. By Telecraph—Press Association—Cosjrishl Bombay, November 2". Tho Clyde Shipping Company's steamer Beachv is stranded at Minikoi. She has on board the' Royal harness and many uniforms and ladies' drawing-room dresses for the Durbar. It is feared these will not reach Delhi in time for the celebrations. The tiny island of Minikoi, or Minicoy, which lies exactly on the meridian of 73E., and' in about BN., lies in the Indian Ocean, directly in the track of steamers bound from Colombo to Aden. It has a lighthouse on its southern side, erected about 30 or 40 years ago. Last year a notice to mariners was issued by the Admiralty drawing attention to tho fact that there were certain arcs in which the light was obscured by coconut trees. In April last year the Swedish steamer Delagoa homeward bound from Singapore and Penang, struck on the island and becamo a total wreck. In 1000 the cargo steamer Duifryn Manor, a nearly new vessel was wrecked there.
