GUNNER RICHARDSON'S DEATH.
MILITARY FUNERAL. The funeral of the late Gnnner V. S. Richardson, who was killed by being run over bv a gun-carriage while practising with his corps, 1) Battery, on Saturday, took place at the Bolton Street cemetery yes'erday atteimoon. The funeral was a military one. A full muster of tho corps, 03 of all ranks, paraded, and the tiring party—a sergeant and 13 men —were selected from the detachment with which ho had been practising when ho met his death. Captain Rose, l.ieutcnant Mackenzie, Lieutenant M'Quarrie, and Lieutenant Janson, the officers of the corps, all paraded with the company. About fifty of the permanent force aud a smaller number of the Territorial Garrison Artillery (Pctone Navals) also attended with their officers. . . ... , , Among the senior officers present at tho funeral were: Colonel A. W. Robin, C.B. (Adjutant-General of the New Zealand Forces), Colonel G. F. C. Campbell (Const Defence Commander), Colonel J, R Purdy (Director of Medical Services), Major !''■ Hume (Officer Commanding Royal New Zealand Artillery), .Major Potheriek I Officer Commanding D Battorv), Major J. G. Hughes, D.S.O. (General Headquarters), Major I\. ; i. Courtuev, Captain Maidlow, Captain Bctbd, Captain Duigan, Captain Robinson, and Captain Hume. The Garrison Band led tho cortege from the deceased's residence in Bidwill Street to the cemetery. The service a]I the graveside was conducted by tho hev. -J. U. Chapman.
