SCARCITY OF SHEARERS.
COMMANDING TEEIE OWN TEEMS. Shearers are reported to be scarce in the Gisborne district this season, and a local farmer informed tho Auckland "Herald's" Gisborne correspondent that they ara commanding practically their own terms- The men me stated to be declining to work for tho award rates as recently fixed by the Aibitration Court, and are demanding the concessions which they enjoyed in previous seasons, which are" in excess of the award. The award, according to the correspondent's informant, is quite a ileud letter, and farmers are having to make their own terms with ,the head men of tho gangs On several stations a deadlock occurred for a day or tw;o.
