Mr. B. li. Mr. H. N. Holmes, late chairman of the Wellington Football Association, also attends as a New Zealand delegate. Mr. J. Hammond, the aviator, who has been unfortunalo enough to suffer a ecvero illness since his arrival in New Zealand, is now quite recovered. With Mrs. Hammond he left for Sydney, en route to England and Europe, by the Moeraki last evening. The Rev. Matthew Doolaghty is gazetted as an officiating minister under the Marriage Act. Mr. John lon, one of tho pioneer settlors of the Waverley district, died at his residence at Kohi, nenr Waverley, on Wednesday,- aged SO. Deceased, who was a well-known sheep breeder, was highly esteemed throughout the district. Messrs. N. T. Lanibouine, 11.A., headmaster of the Mangere School, and J. \V. M'llwraith, M.A., LL.B., Litt. D., of the Normal School, Christchurch, wero appointed inspectors by the Auckland Education Beard on Wednesday. There were 49 applicants for the two positions. Tho staff of tho National Bank at Auckland assembled on Wednesday afternoon to bid farewell to Mr. I , '. M. Jervis, subaccountant, who has been promoted to the management of tho Durgarille branch. Mr. Baxter, on behalf of the staff, presented to Mr. and Mrs. Jervis two pieces of silver plate. Mr. Jervis feelingly replied. The authorities of tho Methodist Church at Christchurch have received cablo now 3 from the president of the British Conference that tho Hew Vallance Cook, one of the prominent evangelists of the English Methodist Church, will visit Now Zealand in 1913 to conduct the minimi of inspiration and appeal.—Press Association.
