-« COMPULSION RESENTED. (By Telecranli.—Prcsa Association.! Auckland, November 23. In connection with tho formation of a Clerks' Union,-it is stated that although somo 280 to SOO employers have been cited, yet an award to include tho whole northern industrial district would mean that at least another 2000 employers should he citcd. The clerical staffs of the wholesale toft poods and fancy goods' warehouses in Auckland do not want a union, and they have decided to take steps to get exemption from any award that may bo issued as a result of the domands of tho recentlyformed Clcrki J Union. There was a representative gathering of warehousemen, including a number of lady elerjes, at a meeting held in tho luncheon hour, when thn question of standing apart from the unionists was discussed. Tho following resolution was passed i—'"That this meeting of lhp clerical staffs of wholesale soft goods and fancy goods warehouses is strongly opposed to the demands issued by tho 'united clerks of Auckland, and resents any attempt to compel us to coma under the scopo of tho union." It was further decided to ask tho union to includo tho warehouses in the list of iirms exempted from tho award.
