GREAT UPROAR.

AT A WEST COAST MEETING. (By Telecraph - Press Acsociatlun.l Hokitika, November 22. Mr. H. L. Michel, a candidate for the We-stland seat, addressed a large meeting lit Ross last evening. A special train from Hokitika carried two hundred supporters. Mr. Michel had a good hearing, tho meeting being orderly until a motion giving a vote of thanks had been moved and seconded. Then Mr. Joseph Grimmond, of Ross, mounted the stngo to speak to tho motion, and in reply to criticism by Mr. Michel of fxmio references made by Mr. Grimmond at Hokitika regarding Mr. Michel's attitudo on tho sale of Hokitika Harbour Reserves and Ross Flat management. Amidst Mme uproar, Mr. Grimmond commenced to speak. Mr. Michel then rose to a point of order, stating that there was no precedent to allow speeches or an attack on a motion of vote of thanks. Mr. Michel immediately walked off the stage into tho body of tho hall, this being the signal for a- regular pandemonium of cheering, hooting, and singing. Mr. Grimmond was unable to obtain a hearing, but continued reading a statement. At the conclusion, amid continued uproar, tho Mayor put tho motion, and declared it carried; An excited crowd continued tho uproar for a considerable timo afterwards.
