POPULATION OF NEW SOUTH WALES
A RECORD QUARTER. Tho estimate of population issued by the Government Statistician, Mr. J. B. Trivett, shows that tho number of persons in New South Wales on September 30 last was 1,071,591, of whom 873,796 wero males and 800,738 wnro fcuialcs. The total includes 2012 aborigines, but excludes 1714 inhabitants of tho Federal capital area, Yass-C'anberra. During tho quarter tho increase in population was 1-1,820, of which 7874 was duo to tho excess of births and 6318 to the excess of arrivals over departures. The increases in tho September quarters during the last livo years have been as follow

Of tho increase, 15,17.1 was natural increase and 10,075 was the excess of arrivals over departures. By sea thoro was an excess of arrivals of 10,917, but thoro was a slight loss over/and of 272. During the six months the number of assisted and nominated immigrants who entered tho State was 4241.
