Illi luloL-rapli-PrefQ A?soclation.l FIRE AT GISBORNE. Gisborne, November 19. A fire brike out yesterday afternoon in a four-roomed boiue in Upper Gladstone Eoad, occupied by a Mr. Gibb and family. Xo one was at home at the time of the outbreak, which had a big hold when discovered. The house being an old one, the fire quickly spread, aud a fresh breeze carried the flames to a five-roomed dwelling adjacent, occupied by llr. Gus Manning, iiovse trainer. A bucket bricade prevented the house from catchin.? for a long time, but eventually the gables became ignited. The brigade arrived a few minute? later and soon had the fire under control. Mr: Gibb's house wa= burned to the ground, and nothing was favo:l. Mr. Manning's house is badly charred on one side. The cottages were owned by Captain Yi arc. The ltauso destroyed was insured for ,£l5O in the Xorwicli Union office, and the second dwelling, which i< a comparatively new one, for ,£3OO in the South British office. FIRE AT NEW BRIGHTON. Christchurch, November 19. A stiff northerly blew to-day, and the lupins on , the bench at New" Brighton, south of the pier, by some means or other, became alight, and the firo spread ■rapidly, and threatened a number of cottages. The brigade turned out smartly and save 1. tho property from destruction.
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM.' Rotorua, November IS. The third phenomenally severe thunderstorm in a fortnight raged here last night. NATIVE LAND COURT RECORD. Rotorua, November 18. A record for any Native Land Court in New Zealand was put up by the local Court, under Judge Brown, IGG orders of partition being put through iu six weeks.
