GATE TAKINGS AT THE SHOW; (By Telecrapli.—SDecial Correspondent.) Wanganui, November 17. The election to fill the vacancy on tho Wanganui East Borough Council resulted in the return of Mr. E. J. Evans, who foated Mr. J. W. Luxford by a few votes. Tho third candidate, Mr. M. J. Power, also polled well. The gate takings for tho two days of the agricultural show were X4SG Os. lid., of which sum "People's Daj-" accounted for JC4I9 7s. 4d. The attendance on tho second day was 12,127. Mr. W. H. A. Scoones, of Wellington, won most of tie prizes in the bull-terrier olass, taking four firsts and one second. Tho only other prize-taker in this class was Mr. C. H. Byland, of Wanganui, who secured two firete.
