METHODIST SYNOD.

The ministerial session of the Weliin"ton district annual Methodist Svnod was opened in Trinity Church, Naprer, on luesday morning last. The Rev. S. J. Serpell, of Mastcrton, chairman of the district, presided. There wore 22 ministers and probationers present. Dispensations of absancc were granted to Tv VS i Ki ™' Kc(lst <>ne, Standage, and Ward. The last-named minister was excused from attendance owing to his being engaged in No-License organisation work in Wellington. ■ The ■ Eev. Mr. Standage was-absent through illness. The synod directed that letters of svmpathv be sent to Eevs. Kirk, Redstone, and otandage. After oral examination on their booklists had bom conducted and reports of their circuit work had bten received, it was unanimously resolved that Ecvs Spoer, Bands, Olds, Burchell, and Blackmore be recommended to pass in their respective year's subjret io their written examinations being satisfactory. Revs. Specr and Rands were also recommended for ordination at the ensuing conference. At the afternoon session Messrs. Murine nad Parsons, from the Masterton circuit, after a searching examination, were unanimously recommended to conference for reception as students for the ministry. In the evening a largely-attended conversazione was held in Wesley Hall, presided over by the Mayor. 'Several choice musical items were rendered, and addresses wero dolivered by Revs. J. A.
