MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Mr. W. G. Eiddell, S.M.) HIS EFFORT IN CRIME. TEN CHARGES CONFESSED TO. Ten charges were made against liobert Reginald Brice. It was alleged that he had obtained JcG by false pretences from Frank Hook, at Takaka, on or about October 3; one pair of boots (worth 235. Gd.) from Edwin Bryant Ash, at Wellington, on September 11; JS from Donald Wells, at Nelson, on October 0; .£5 from Donald Wells, on October 17; J:5 from Alfred Frank Hook, at Takaka, on or about October i; Xa from Charles Al.ington, at Takaka. on or about October ■i; and .£5 from Otlo Haase, at Takaka, on or about October ■}. Brice was also charged with having stolen two pairs of boots, valued at .£2 C-.. the proporiv cf Arthur V. Oliver, of Wellington, oa September 21. He was also accused of having forged, al Wellington, on September 21, the name of 15. Davis; to a cheque for .£(! 155., and uUercd the cheque to Charles Arthur Harrison; and with having (at T'icton, on April 27) forged the name of Daniel I.odder to a cheque for .£ls, and uttered the same to John J. Campbell. Mr. T. M. Wilford represented accused, who pleaded guilty to all the charges. On the charges of false pretences, and the charge of theft, ho was remanded for sentence till November 22. On the two charges of forgery and uttering lie was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was allowed. Mr. Wilford mentioned that restitution would bo made by Briee's friends.
