ELECTED UNIONIST LEADER. By Telegraph—Press Association—OonyrleM London, November 13. At the meeting; of the Unionist party hold to elect a successor to Mr. A. J. Balfour, the retiring lender of tho party, Mr. W. H. Long proposed and Mr. Austen Chamberlain seconded the motion that Mr. A. Bonar Law be elected. The motion was carried by acclamation. A STEELING GIFT. London, November 13. . Mr. James Buchanan, the well-known distiller, has given tho Tariff Reform League ten thousand pounds in consequence of Mr. A. Bonar Law's election 4o the Leadership of the Unionist party. ACCORDED AN OVATION, IN THE HOUSE OP COMMONS. (Rec. November 14, 10.30 p.m.) London, November 14. In the House of Commons, after tho Unionists had accorded an ovation to Mr. Bonar Law, the Liberals and Labourites cordially joined •in ■• tho cheering. , ■ The Liberal newspapers declare that Mr. Law's selection is a wise one, inasmuch as Mr. Austen Chamberlain's selection would, havo made a Nonconformist tho'. leader of churchmen opposing Welsh Disestablishment, while Mr. W. H. Long's selection would havo meani defeat of Ohamberlainism.
