MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tho Hutt County Council was held yesterday. There were present: Messrs. W. Galloway, T. Edwards J. Wakcham, J. Wliiteman. M. W. Welch, and W. J. Howell. Mr. Gallowav was elected acting-chairman until the statutory'meeting for the election of a chairman should bo held on tho last Wednesdav of the month. . Mr. P. H. Saxon was appointed ranger for the county at o. salary of £5 per mouth. Moore's Valley Road in Waraui-o-mata was under repairs, and when theso wero completed, the road would nestl very little attention for a few years. Tho ford at the creek near Mr. Tabuteau's was scouring badly, and had alrer.dy born the cause of two broken axles. Ho would therefore recommend that a 20ft x 3ft. culvert be put in and tho hollow filled up to correspond with the grade of the read on either side. Two new wings had been added to the bridge near the school in Ptokes Valley.- Pipes had alfo been ordered to replace the four wooden culverts on Harvard's Hill, which wre in need of immediate attention.
