Witii reference to the question of stock . charges for dairy cattle sold by auotion, Mr. Balsillic slated that in Jus opinion there should bo a uniform scale of charges. It was thought, too, that it would be a good thing in the case of dairy stock that was not sold that an entranco fee to the yards of Is. each be charged for single, animals, and that tho lots on which the minimum rate was charged should bo reduced to five instead of ten. On the motion Of Mr, Wingate, it. was resolved to obtaiu the schedule rates from tho Hawko's Bay, Pahiatua, and Wairnrapa districts, with a view to obtaining uniform rates for the Wellington, Tnranaki, and Hawke's Bay districts, and to request that tho replies be sent in before December. It was also resolved that it be an instruction to any delegate appointed from here to a«k for a reduction to t per cent, on the dairy stpek sold in lots up to five, and that an entrance of Is. bo charged on stock that is not sold. A large number of breaches of. tho borough by-laws were dealt with in tile Police Court to-day, beforo Mr. A. D. Thomson, S.M. Offenders were fined in sums from ss. upward?. It is anticipated that there will be nearly a thousand more names on the electoral roil for the coining election than was the case three years aeo. The populous district of Linlon is now included in the electorate, and this will account for a good deal of the increase.
