At Santabarbara, California, a farmer named John Rock ami his wife aro jointly charged with the murder of a body which it is alleged was buried alive. At Chicago Mrs. Vcrmilya has been arrested on a charge of murder by poisoning a policeman with arsenic. The accused attempted to commit suicide, but is recovering and is in the hospital. It is alleged that sho killed twelve other persons with poison, Tho motive is unknown.
