Mr. Harold Gregson, who has bocn judging tlin instrumental classes at tho Wellington Competitions, left for Auckland by the Main Trunk express on Saturday. A number of tho successful competitors from Auckland returned home by the same train. They were given an enthusiastic send-off by a number of Wellington friends. Many will regret to hear of tho death of Mr. Wm. Guise, which look place at his residence, Stephens Street, off Hawker Street, early on Saturday morning. The deceased, who was 53 years of ago, was born in Auckland, but came to Wellington when a youth, ajid has boeii 35 years in the employ of Messrs. H. Hannah and Co. Ho was prominently connected with tho Loyal Antipodean Lodge of Oddfcllowe (M.U.), and was a popular member of the Victoria, Bowling Club. Ho leaves a, widow, three daughters (Misses Florence, Cecilia, and Dons Guise) ond one son, Mr. B. A. Guise, of Messrs. Bell, Gully, Bell and Myers , clerical staff. Mr. C. S. Nixon, Collector and. Inspector of Customs, Wellington, is seriously Mr. Leo Myers (the president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce) has been confined to his house for some days. Mr. Myers is progressing favourably, liut lie will not bo able to resume business for some time.
