MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Hiramar Borough Council met last night. There were present: The Mayor iMr. J. Brodie), Councillors Richard;, Telford. Stone, Howie, and Lauronson.

The Worser Bay Swimming Club applied for permission to erect a bathing shed on Worser Hay beach. Tho club, in a letter, said they would bn glad if tho council could assist them in preparing tha site, which was of a very rocky nature. The council decided to ascertain the cost of preparing tho site. Regarding the water supply for Port Dorset, Lientonaiu-Colonol Johnston (Director of Ordnance) wrote that the charge of 2s. Cd. per 1000 gallons seemed to be excessive, and that ho would bo glad to know if it would not lie possible to reduce tho charge, seeing that the Wellington City Council supplied water to householders at fld. per 1000 gallons. The writer trusted tho council would see its way clear to reduce this charge, failing which the Defence Department might be forced to resort to an alternative supply. —It was decided to reply that the council could not see its way to make any reduction, and that as the Department paid no rates the chargc was reasonable. Regarding the water supply to their works, the Gas Company wrote that they desired to put down a four-inch main leading from Miramar Avenue into the works, and to take therefrom various leads to tho different portions of tho works, and, also, to place on the main hydrant:) for use in case of lire.—The council granted permission. An application to hold a boy scouts camp at Seatoun Park was refused, but the park may bo used for drill, and itis to be pointed out that the camp can l>e pitched on tho road, aud thereby get the shelter of tho trees. It was resolved to approach the City Council with a recommendation that tho 5.1 p.m. ear to Jliramar and the S.fi p.m. car to Seatoun should be through cars with minimum through fares payable. The Mirainar I'iro Brigado sout a list of the. material they required, and the matter was referred to the Fire Brigado Committee.
