The new workshop which is to be erected for tho Public Works Department will bo placed near the King's Wharf on a siata reclaimed for the purpose by the Wellington Harbour Board, near tho new Post and Telegraph workshop. Plans have yet (o bo prepared, but it is intended to provide a, commodious workshop and store, with a yard for stacking rails and other railway plant. A voto of ,£3OOO for the new workshop was passed by the House, but Cabiuot last week authorised nn expenditure of ,£3750. It is expected that the sito of the existing workshop adjoining the Government Printing Offieo will probably bo covered by a future extension of that institution, but tho vote of iMOftO (on account) for additions to the Printing Office will probablv be used in tho first instanco for building n new wing at tho back of the main building.
