THE 'FRISCO SERVICE.

AUSTRALIAN VIEWS. Uy Telerraph—Press Aewciatlon-Oonyrich* (Etc. November 9, 1.10 a.m.) Brisbane, November 8. The Brisbane Chamber of Commerce has received a letter from Mr. Finlaypon, of the Federal Parliament, mentioning the Union S.S. Compares proi posed extension of tho San Francisco sof vies,'.stating that unless the Commonwealth Government arranged a subsidy tho company contemplated dropping Sydney. The proposed extension was a, move to counteract the agitation for a Melbourne-Sydney-Brisbane-Van-couver service. It would need watching, unless Brisbane was prepared to have a eervice of any sort at any price. It is believed that the Commonwealth Government are firm in their attitude to refuse to subsidise for any service which does not allow Australian exporters to compete on equal terms with New Zealand. The Chamber decided to revive the question of including Brisbane in the Vancouver service.
