4 POSITION OF WIVES. By Tcleffr&ph—Press Association—CoDjriehl London, November 3. The National Insurance Bill was further discussed in tho House of Commons, in Committee. The House agreed to a clause giving a wife tho option between voluntary insurance at a reduced rale, and discontinuance of payments. In the latter case she would be allowed to gradually draw two-thirds of the surrender value, onelliird being retained to provide for a possible re-entry as an employed widow. The Committee also decided that aliens resident in the United Kingdom for five years, and belonging to an improved society, would receive benefit from the State funds. (Rec. The Lancashire County Committee, has asked (ho Marjlebone Cricket (Tub to endeavour to secure the exemption of cricket clubs from tho compulsory insurance of players under the Insurance Bill.
