Sir Robert Stout, in his opening remarks, stated that the movement for which they were gathered together for the afternoon was a most noble one, and one which ho was sure would receive tho whole-hearted support of this city. It was most imperative that the sick and needy should be looked after. What was wanted\to-day was to find out the cause of poverty, and when that was discovered, it was everybody's duty to do all in their power to prevent and obstruct it. Dr. Piatt-Mills spoko in high terms of the action taken in securing a sister to work in the slums of Wellington. The sister would bo required to perform a duty that would be difficult, and in some instances painful, aud therefore she appealed to her hearers to come forward and assist in bringing those poor creatures out of the unhealthy surroundings by nursing and giving them the necessary assistance and advice. Dr. Piatt-Mills gave a graphic account of a visit she had made to the slums of New York and London.

Sister Mildred (Miss JI. Williams) was introduced to the audience by Sir Robert Stout, and was received most enthusiastically. She responded appropriately, and appealed most eloquently for assistance iu the work for which she had been called. She thanked the Brotherhood for their confidence and promised to do all ill her power to maintain it. Mr. W. J. Kershaw proposed a vote of thanks to all who assisted.
