Archdeacon llarper was reported to havo performed the act of consecration, wljoreas in point of fact the Archdeacon was not present, and the church was not consecrated, and will not be consecrated by the Bishop until it is frco of debt, In another place it was also remarked as a coincidence that "tho Veil. Archdeacon Harper," who conducted tho opening ceremony of the old church forty-six years ago, should bo performing a similar ceremony in tho now building that evening. Tho report, of course should have road "tlw Von. Archdeacon Fancourt," etc. From ISGS-1870 Archdeacon Fancourt held tho cure of Porirua and Karori, a district which consisted of all tho settlements on the West Coast from Karori to Pahautanui, exclusive of (ho city of Wellington. During that time, amongst other churches, tho old Karori Church was built in his cure, and he opened it and preached the first sermon.
