RAMSDEN BACK FROM ENGLAND. -A E. Rainsden, who formerly played for the Petone Football Club, and the Wellington representative team, returned to Wellington yesterday from England, where lie has been completing his commercial education. After his arrival in England, liamsden played for the Bradford Club until two years ago, when he retired from the game. He docs not think that any of the New Zealand footballers, at present playing under tho Northern Union, are likely to make land their permanent abode. A. Kelly, of Petone, is playing for St. Helens; Todd, of Auckland, for Wigan; C. Byrne, of Petone, and 13. Wrigley, of Wairarapa, for Huddersfield; and G. W. Smith and C, Sealing, of Auckland, for Oldham. " THE "SOCCER" GAME. DOMINION COUNCIL. A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association was held last evening, Mr. S. Witta-Thornton presiding. There were also present: Messrs. W. Auld (Taranaki), W. Duncan , (Manawatu), C. J. Ward (Canterbury), W. Wells (Southland), H. M'Keowen (Hawke's Bay), J, J. Roberts (Wellington), C. E. Fordham (Otago), J. I' I ..Atkins (Auckland), W. J. H. Reynolds (Poverty Bay), W. 'M. Matheson (treasurer), and 11. L. Salmon (secretary). 'It was announced that all affiliated associations, with the exception of Canterbury, had signified their approval of tho council taking up 25 shares in tho company, which has purchased an association football ground in South ICilbirnie. It was decided that the council take up the shares, and Mr. C. J. Ward was elected to represent tho council at shareholders' meetings. A letter was received from the Marlborough Boys' Association, stating that they could not pay their annual affiliation fee,'owing,Jo financial difficulties. It was, dccidefl to'collect the amount (10s.) in the room, and this was done immediately. Regarding tho Tues case, which has been held over from timo to time, it was decided to inform the Wellington Football Association that, in tho opinion of tho council, the suspension placed upon this player was totally inadequate. The suspensions placcd on three Auckland players by the local'association were confirmed.
An appeal was heard from tho Kaitangata Club against tho decision of the Otago Football Association in awarding tho championship cup iinal to tho Mornington Club. The appeal was based on. tho ground that the winners had had the services of n Canterbury player, named Kelly. Tho secretary (pointed out that there'were no rules bearing on tho matter, and that ICelly was qnito eligible to play for Mornington. Tho appeal-was dismissed... The Otago Football Association sent particulars regarding the somewhat famous "Cautioned List." The letter stated that referees reported all players who wcro cautioned, and a list of such players was kept by tho secretary of the O.F.A. The men were then written to, and cautioned as to future conduct. It was stated that these proceedings were taken more to' cover offences which were not sufficiently' culpable to warrant a player being ordered off tho field.
